As a nerd unlikely to be contained by silos, titles, or traditional hierarchy, my ideas and energy are shared in many ways. I’m a big-question-asker, a writer, a poet, a nerd for tech and Star Trek, a Beagle sidekick, and a middle-brainer who helps story and strategy play nice together. I’m a partner in the operation called DVQ Studio, where we evolve culture and energize people through the work of communications.
In everything, I prefer to be an open-minded student rather than a so-called expert, and I think the world would be a happier place if more people were students at heart. I am inspired by organizations that value learning, and I try to be immersed in (and create) a learning culture wherever I am. When I am not working, it’s likely that I am talking with friends about a recent science discovery, hacking away on a website to learn about Wordpress or Drupal, reading poetry, or working on a roadmap for a product idea.
Not enough background on me? Here is a true and telling story for you:
In second grade, during our creative project time (wonderfully called “Plan. Do. Review.”), my teacher pulled me aside and informed me that while my enthusiasm was admirable, she didn’t want me starting any new projects until I had completed my current one. And going forward, I could only work on one project at a time. I was quite insulted. And although I loved that teacher, her intervention has never stuck.
Still not enough? We should probably just connect on Twitter or LinkedIn in that case.
Worth noting: This is my personal blog, although that feels like an odd caveat since my work is a reflection of my passion and vice versa. Because of my diverse interests, my posts are also likely to be diverse.
